Delta-V Energetics provides custom test design and execution for energetic materials, ordnance, safety systems, and other high-energy applications. Whether the objective is to characterize performance, capture a transient event, validate a design, or understand a failure mode, we can develop a test approach around the specific question you need answered.

High-speed video allows us to capture and analyze events that are otherwise impossible to observe in real time. We use high-speed imaging to evaluate detonation behavior, projectile and fragment motion, structural response, penetration, component failure, and other rapid events.

Our data acquisition systems can be synchronized with high-speed video and other instrumentation to correlate measured data with the physical event. Test setups can range from a single measurement channel to complex, multi-channel configurations designed around customer-specific requirements.

Measure and characterize the velocity of detonation of explosives, propellants, and energetic formulations. Testing can be configured to evaluate steady-state VoD, initiation behavior, propagation, and performance across different charge geometries or confinement conditions.

Characterize blast and detonation phenomena using high-speed pressure instrumentation. Testing can be configured to measure free-field blast pressure, reflected pressure, impulse, pressure-time histories, or other parameters associated with explosive performance and structural loading.

Evaluate how products and systems behave under abnormal, extreme, or unintended conditions. Delta-V can develop tests to investigate safety-system performance, failure modes, energetic hazards, containment, component interaction, and the consequences of system-level failures.

Evaluate the performance of conical shaped charges, linear shaped charges, and other focused-energy devices. Testing can include penetration depth, jet or slug behavior, target response, stand-off effects, and high-speed visualization of the penetration event.

Delta-V performs pressure cycling, proof, burst, and failure testing of pressure vessels and COPVs up to 15k PSI. Test programs can simulate repeated service cycles, establish performance margins, characterize degradation, or continue through ultimate failure.

Evaluates how energetic materials, components, and complete systems perform after exposure to demanding environmental conditions. Custom test programs can incorporate temperature extremes, thermal cycling, vibration, shock, aging, and other environmental stresses to identify changes in performance, reliability, and safety.
